Visits to the Opera!

In the past 2 months, the girls and I have attended two operas (the boys weren’t interested…). I organized these trips to the opera for our local homeschool group after being contacted by one of the organizers for the San Antonio Opera Guild. They have been wonderful opportunities to learn about and experience an opera for a wonderful price…FREE!

The first opera we saw was all in English. It was the Mikado presented at the Lila Cockerell Theatre in downtown San Antonio. Today we saw Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at the Buena Vista Theatre on the downtown campus of UTSA. This second theatre was much smaller and they gave an interesting rendition of this opera… Their presentation was mostly in English but had some parts in Italian. They did have a small screen the showed what they were saying/singing throughout..which was helpful!

We were not able to take pictures of the opera itself, but here are a few pictures of our first group and a few of the kids from today.

Wimberley Glassworks Fieldtrip!

Sorry it’s been so long since I have  updated! I hope to get some pictures of what we have been doing with school and our homeschool group activities posted soon!

This is from our fieldtrip out to Wimberley this Monday. We have been here before, but wanted to visit again! It is always exciting to watch what they are able to create out of molten glass!

This slideshow has pictures of our visit to the Wimberley Glassworks and of our visit to a restaurant in the town of Wimberley. It is a beautiful area…I wish I had been able to get pictures of all the hills and valleys you can see as we drove out to Wimberley!

More pictures…Japanese Tea Gardens Field Trip!

We took a field trip back in April 2008 to the Japanese Tea Gardens and Brackenridge Park. I was able to post a few pictures but didn’t have time to post nearly enough!

A friend just recently told me about SmileBox, so I have been making slide shows tonight!

I posted one about our recent cat pregancy/delivery experience on my other blog at: http://www.wendyclayton.blogspot.com

This field trip to the Japanese Tea Gardens was a lot of fun. I would love to go back by ourselves for more time to look around, draw, etc. There were other school groups visiting that day also, so it wasn’t as quiet as I remembered it being when my husband and I used to go out there when we were dating! 🙂

I think when it cools off some more, the kids and I will head down there again…I want to go by myself also to draw…something I haven’t done in ages!

My oldest daughter also took some of the pictures. I included all of them.

Hope you enjoy!

Fun Field Trip!

We had a wonderful and relaxing time this week visiting two local sites. We visited the Japanese Tea Gardens and Brackenridge Park.

We went with one of our local homeschool groups. We all had a lot of fun getting to know some new families and seeing the recently renovated Japanese Tea Gardens. Visiting the Brackenridge Park playground area was new to us also!

Below are some pictures from our day!

**More pictures coming soon…it takes awhile to get them on here!**
